紐卡索大學（Newcastle University）的前身是１８３４年建於紐卡素的醫學與外科學校（School of Medicine and Surgery後來發展成為醫學院）以國王學院（King's College）身分作為另一所著名的杜倫大學（ University of Durham）的一個學院，後來根據１９６３年的國會法案（Act of Parliament）改制為一所獨立的學校，正式全名為「泰恩河畔紐卡索大學」（University of Newcastle upon Tyne）以及１８７１年為教授自然科學而建立的Armstrong學院。目前有來自一百多個國家的兩千多名留學生選擇在紐卡索大學（Newcastle University）學習。擁有一流的醫學及牙醫學院，設備良好的科學及工程系，以及全新的商學院。 《星期日泰晤士報》將紐卡索大學（Newcastle University）評為２０００－２００１年度的最佳大學，它報導說：“紐卡索大學（Newcastle University）的各個方面都實力雄厚，它的教學水準與紀錄十分出色，因而成為我們的首選。”高等教育質量保證機構授予的最高分為２４分，而在本校教授的所有學科中，沒有一個科目的得分低於２０分。醫學院的六個學科得分為１４３分，比能獲得的最高分１４４分僅差一分。

紐卡索大學（Newcastle University）是一所位於英格蘭東北泰恩河畔新堡的英國大學，創建之初取名為泰恩河畔紐卡索大學（根據１９６３年８月的國會法案，現在仍然是官方的大學名字）。大學也是「羅素集團」的成員之一。
學校有學生１７，７８４人（２００５－２００６），包括了來自於１００多個國家的超過２，０００名的海外學生。 因此在英國留學期間，可以交到許多外國朋友。

在２０００年，大學獲得了「星期日泰晤士報年度最佳大學」。紐卡索大學的醫學院從來都是英國最好的醫學院之一。
並且曾經還是歐洲第一，世界第二個被授予人類幹細胞研究許可的醫學機構。

環境

泰恩河畔紐卡索(Newcastle upon Tyne），通常簡稱為紐卡索（Newcastle），是一位於英格蘭東北、泰恩—威爾郡範圍內的自治城市（在獨立設市之前，原是諾森伯蘭郡（Northumberland）的一個郡鎮），毗鄰桑德蘭（Sunderland）及北泰恩賽德（North Tyneside）。和其他同緯度的地區相比，紐卡索（Newcastle）的氣候是很溫和的。這主要得益於來自北大西洋的墨西哥灣暖流的影響。紐卡索處於本寧山脈（Mountain Pennines）的雨影區中，使它成為英國境內最乾旱的城市之一。因為北大西洋洋流的作用，當地主要以西南風為主。

最近一個由美國針對全球最有趣城市所做的調查當中，紐卡索被列名於前十名。 它是一個色彩鮮明、活潑、生氣勃勃並且年輕的城市，素以傳統酒館、俱樂部、夜生活、運動、娛樂、商店和友善的特質而著稱。 紐卡索是繼史特拉福、倫敦以外，另一個可以每年觀賞到皇家莎士比亞劇團演出莎翁名劇的城市。此地整年都有表演節慶，是一個充滿樂趣的地方，數不盡的喜劇、舞蹈、電影、文學、爵士樂等藝文活動，讓人看得目不暇給卻又樂於參與其中。除此之外，紐卡索是英國第五大購物目的地，每年有四千萬人潮湧入本市只為購物，著名的Eldon Square是歐洲最大的市區室內購物商場，而距離市中心三英里遠的Metro Centre更是歐洲規模最巨的購物和休閒綜合建築物，另外，它也擁有一個發展快速、繁榮熱鬧的中國城。在對外交通聯繫方面，紐卡索的公共交通網更是方便至極，它擁有自己的國際機場，提供國際、國內線班機往返於倫敦、曼徹斯特、伯明罕、卡地夫、亞伯丁、格拉斯哥、都柏林、貝爾法斯特、阿姆斯特丹、巴黎和奧斯陸。搭乘火車到愛丁堡僅1小時，到格拉斯哥或雪菲爾2小時，到倫敦或曼徹斯特約3小時，到伯明罕則需4個小時。因此對英國留學學生來說，交通便利。

設備

羅賓森圖書館（The Robinson Library）因優質服務而成為英國第一個贏得特許證章（Charter Mark）的大學圖書館。圖書館藏書超過一百萬冊，有２,４５０個學習座位，其中包括兩百台電腦使用座位。大學還有醫學及法律的專科圖書館。

大學電腦服務處（UCS）在校園上下設置了一千多個電腦工作臺。

本校的科學設施包括：為老年健康學院而建的沃爾森（Wolfson）研究中心；為風濕病學、抗癌藥物的研製開發、考古學、食品及營養的研究而新建的實驗室；以及環境工程學、地質紡織學及植物生物學的翻新實驗室。２００１年的上半年，政府撥款七百二十萬英鎊給本校建立納米科技中心；科學研究投資基金會又撥款一千六百三十萬英鎊給本校興建研究設施。

最近翻修一新的健康及健身中心有專門鍛煉心血管系統的最新型器械，還有走跑機、空氣阻力自行車、划船機、攀岩及各種有氧運動器材。

可萊蒙（Claremont）運動中心內設現代化的雙場地體育館和四個壁球場。學生會是大學主要的社交場所，它因為舉辦了許多深受歡迎的活動而享有美名。各種娛樂活動有喜劇之夜、智力競賽之夜和舞蹈等。

所有學生都可以使用設施完善的多種福利服務，這包括殘疾輔助服務、學生建議中心、住宿與職業辦公室和學生諮詢服務處等。

學生諮詢中心為所有學生及他們的家屬，提供友好、免費、公正和嚴格保密的專業服務。中心在學習期間和放假期間都開放。四名常設諮詢員提供有關財務、移民、學術問題、住宿、法律和消費者權益的資訊和建議。這些資源都是在英國留學期間可以好好利用的。學生會有１００多個學生社團讓你有許多不同社交的活動

住宿資訊

學校提供約６７０個地方專門安排給研究生。這些地方離大學校園很近，在安靜的住宿社區，您可以專心讀書。這些房舍有中央暖氣，床及書桌、廚房有廚具及冰箱，有些房間則有衛浴設備。不提供床單被褥，不過您可以在抵達前訂一套。擁有超過４７００間各式各樣合理的價格的客房所有國際學生可以保證住宿一年，如果您不希望住在大學宿舍，我們也可以為您提供諮詢和協助
