牛津大學（University of Oxford）位於英國牛津市，是英語世界中最古老的大學。

雖然牛津大學的確切創立日期仍不清楚，其歷史可大約追溯到十二世紀末，迄今約有九百年。牛津大學牛津大學（University of Oxford）是英國研究型大學羅素集團（Russell Group）、歐洲頂尖大學科英布拉集團（Coimbra Group）、歐洲研究型大學LERU（League of European Research Universities）以及Europaeum中的核心成員。

九個世紀以來，牛津大學一直是英國乃至於世界級的頂尖學府，今日經常擠身於世界前五名之列。牛津大學和劍橋大學時常被合稱為牛劍，它們兩所是英格蘭最古老、最著名的大學。從２００２年至２００７年，牛津連續６年被英國泰晤士報評為全英綜合排名第一的大學。另外在２００７年的泰晤士報高等教育增刊的世界大學排行榜內，牛津大學名列世界第二，僅次於美國的哈佛大學。對在意排名的同學來說，這所無疑是英國留學的首選。

牛津大學（University of Oxford）由一個中央學校（包括校和系圖書館，以及科學實驗室）及３９個學院所組成。這些學院實質上負責大學生和研究生的教學及招生。有些學院只接受研究生，而有一個學院根本就不招收學生。牛津的學院系統產生於大學誕生之時，並逐漸成為牛津市獨立機構的集合體。與大多數其他大學組織結構相似，牛津大學又根據專業分為不同的系。系通常在研究生教學中扮演主要角色，提供講座、課程以及組織考試。系也通常是被外部機構包括大型研究委員會資助的研究中心。

牛津市人口約十五萬人。牛津被認為是【有著夢幻般尖塔的城市】，也是一座充滿年輕活力的都會，在此不難找到大型購物餐飲休閒場所。有許多異國餐廳像是黎巴嫩、泰國、法國和牙買加餐廳。雖然牛津的古典建築聞名於世，但它的廣大綠地如公園、花園和田園風景也相當優美。這裡有３００多個學生社團，像是：和氣道、音樂、戲劇和媒體（２個學生報紙和一個電台）。牛津學生會是學校最大的學生社團，經常舉辦學術權威的辯論會和演講。多數學院設有英國國教堂和基督教教堂，市區內也有衛理教和浸信教教會、猶太教中心、伊斯蘭教學習中心、清真寺和佛教社團。

從牛津去往英國各地和歐洲旅行，交通十分方便。這裏的鐵路運輸和長途客運都很發達，到倫敦希斯洛國際機場只有一小時的路程。因此對英國留學的學生來說，交通也很方便。

牛津市郊考利是寶馬迷你（BMW MINI）的製造地之一。

牛津大學（University of Oxford）共有約１００所獨立的圖書館，其中最著名的Bodleian圖書館共有６千５百多萬本藏書。另有附屬於各科系的大型研究圖書館、學院圖書館和一般圖書館。每個學院亦於大多數教室供可上網的電腦工作站，學校的電腦服務提供完整且與學術電腦相關的設備與訓練。多數學院均設有運動場、壁球場和為了每年的校際杯划船比賽設置的河邊船屋。Iffley Road運動中心為主要運動競賽如足球、區棍球和網球等，提供練習場地。
