堪薩斯州（Kansas）

位處美國正中心的堪薩斯州北接內布拉斯加州，南鄰奧克拉荷馬州，西邊是克羅拉多，東側則是密蘇里州。堪薩斯州的西半部是北美大平原，越往東地勢則逐漸增高，可見丘陵與茂密的森林；又因為堪薩斯州為溫帶大陸型氣候，無霜期長，故農業發達，一年四季皆可出產作物。這也為此州贏得了許多美稱，如：「向日葵之州」、「小麥之州」。麵包是美國常見的主食之一，而盛產小麥的堪薩斯州就成為了國內「麵包的搖籃」，此州的小麥產量為全國之冠。

1822年，沿著聖塔菲的公路，上百部貨車行經堪薩斯州為本州帶來了人氣，1861年，堪薩斯州正式成為美國一州。牛車與鐵路不斷改變此地的風貌，道吉市是全美最大的水牛交易市場。時至今日，水牛、小麥、玉米和大豆仍為堪薩斯州的農業經濟基礎。

Located in the center of the United States, Kansas is the neighbor of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado and Missouri. The west of the state is covered by the Great Plains, and eastern Kansas consists of hills and woods. According to Effektive Klimaklassifikation, Kansas has a humid continental climate and its long frost-free period makes the state an idea environment for agriculture. This has also won it the nicknames “the Sunflower State” and “the Wheat State”. As bread is one of the main dishes on American tables, and the main ingredients for bread is wheat, growing more wheat than any other state in the union makes Kansas the breadbasket of the country.

In 1822, dozens of wagons came to Kansas through the Santa Fe Trail and the population started to grow, officially becoming a state in 1861. Cattle drives and railroads continued to change the face of the state, and Dodge City became home to the largest cattle market in the world.

Today, cattle, wheat, corn, and soybeans form the base for the agricultural economy.
