加利福尼亞州（California）

加利福尼亞州，簡稱加州，想必是大家最耳熟能詳的美國的一州。加州位於美國西南岸，為美國土地面積第三大州，人口數則是全美之冠。得天獨厚的地理位置，使得南加州的四季如春，相當宜人，即便是在冬季，也能看見人們聚集在沿岸的沙灘上享受著和煦的冬陽。

加州最主要的經濟產業是農業，然而其最廣為人知的是舉世聞名的電視電影產業以及高科技電子業總部：所有電影人夢寐以求的好萊塢便位在天使城洛杉磯；谷歌、蘋果電腦、臉書、雅虎等當今電腦科技業的龍頭總部皆在加州北部的聖塔克拉拉古，矽谷。然而加州不只有繁榮的商業和現代化都市，其自然美景也能讓人醉心嚮往；加州有九個國家公園，包括以花崗石、冰河Ｕ形谷等特殊地形聞名的優勝美地國家公園，以及以在台灣難得一見的沙漠、火山地形的死亡谷國家公園。

加州的高等教育機構雲集，著名的加利福尼亞大學及其各分校、加州理工學院、南加州大學及史丹佛大學等校都位在這陽光滿溢的金州。

California is without doubt one of the most-often-heard-of states in America. California is located in the southwest of the continent; the unique location brings warmth and sunshine to southern California even in the winter. California is the third biggest state in the United States, and its population is the highest in the nation.

The main economic activity in California is agriculture, however, the entertainment and high technology industries are even better known. Hollywood, the dreamland of every film maker, is inside the “Angel City” of the state: Los Angeles; Google, Apple, Facebook, Yahoo etc., all these leading companies in the high-tech industry are based in Silicon Valley in northern California.

California is not only famous for its modern cities but also known for its breathtaking natural landscape. There are nine national parks within the state, including Yosemite National Park, where people can enjoy magnificent view of terrain formed by granite and glacier; you can also experience deserts and volcanos in Death Valley National Park.

There are many world famous higher education institutions located in this golden state: University of California, California Institute of Technology, University of Southern California and Stanford University, to name but a few.
